It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Officer Caleb Abney with the Hahira Police Department was killed in the line of duty on Thursday, February 19, 2026. While sitting in his patrol car writing a uniform traffic citation on I-75 29mm NB, Officer Abney's patrol vehicle was struck from behind and he was killed instantly.

Officer Abney is survived by his fiancé, set to be married in April 2026, and his parents, siblings and extended family. The funds received from this fundraiser will support his fiancé and family with funeral costs as well as ongoing expenses needed to stabilize their home life due to this tragic event.
