I’m writing this in complete shock, just hours after losing my mother. My mother, Nicole James, was my rock, my biggest supporter, and the most selfless person I’ve ever known. She dedicated her life to her three children, and now we’re faced with the unimaginable task of saying goodbye.

Nicole passed away suddenly and tragically on May 15, 2025, at just 55 years old. She leaves behind three young adult children, heartbroken parents who lost their daughter, and a brother who lost his sister. The grief we’re feeling is hard to put into words.

Her life was marked by resilience. After surviving a devastating car accident in 1999 that permanently shattered her ankle, Nicole was diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)—a condition so painful it’s been called “suicide syndrome.” But she never gave up. Despite living in constant, often unbearable pain, she fought every day to give her kids a better life.

She took on freelance gigs, ghostwriting jobs, anything she could to keep us clothed, fed, and safe. No matter how hard things got, there were always gifts under the Christmas tree and love in our home. She talked to each of us every single day, always making sure we felt supported and heard.

I watched her struggle, and I worked hard hoping that one day, I could take care of her the way she took care of us. I wanted her to finally rest. But that day never came. My mother died working.

It’s deeply difficult for me to ask for help, but right now, we need it. There are significant expenses we’re facing. Any contribution, no matter how small, would make a meaningful difference for our family during this heartbreaking time.
