In Memory of Nicola “Nicky” Calamita

As a member of the Woodrow Wilson School Community and the Bayonne Community I want the Calamita family to know that they are not alone. They say it takes a village to raise a child and I want them to know that they have an extremely large village here for them. We are a family at Woodrow Wilson Community School and when one mourns we all mourn, but we also come together to support each other through even the toughest of times.
Moving forward in the days, weeks, months, and years to come, things are going to get difficult. Elia is continuing to work to support her family and she will need help for Vito after school.
I am asking everyone reading this to find it in your hearts to help this family who has given there all to their son. I have seen first hand how much love exuded from them, not only towards their son, but towards the people they trusted and continue to trust with their child through the years. As special educators we treat each of our students as if they are our own. We build relationships not only with our students, but with their families. We become part of the village that continues to look out for those students we once had and continue to make sure that they are continuing to grow and be given the opportunities that they deserve. Please help this family to not have to worry about financial responsibilities, while their hearts are heavy. Help them to continue to smile as bright as Nick did each day and help by becoming A PART OF OUR VILLAGE!
