In Memory of Nick Bretherton

Donation protected
This is a fundraiser set up in memory of our Dad Nick Bretherton, who died on the 3rd of September 2020, aged 65. He was taken ill unexpectedly 2 days prior to this due to a massive bleed on the brain, and passed away peacefully in the early hours of Thursday morning, with all of us there at his bedside. He was a much loved husband and father, and his death has come as a complete shock, leaving a terrible void in all of our lives. Despite this, he went out a hero, as he was able to donate his liver, kidneys and tissue to those in need of it, an act which will hopefully allow others to spend many more years with their loved ones.

Several people have enquired about making charitable donations in his memory. We would like to donate to 3 separate charities which we know our Dad would have loved. All donations to this fundraiser will be split equally between them.

The three charities we have selected are as follows:

UK Men's Sheds Association - a charity that helps combat loneliness and isolation in older men, by means of providing an environment to socialise and learn new skills. As a very practically minded man, we know this is something our Dad would have had great interest in.

The British Beekeeper's Association - a charity that helps support Beekeepers across the UK, as well as educating younger people on the importance of bees to the environment. Our Dad took up Beekeeping as a hobby around 10 years ago, and became increasingly passionate about it in the years since then. This is something that was very close to his heart, so we would love to be able to help contribute to the upkeep of other hives throughout the UK.

The Liverpool History Society - a local society and charity with an interest in the study of the history of the city of Liverpool. As a born and raised Scouser, with a love of all things Liverpool and also all things old fashioned, there could not be a more fitting organisation to donate to in his memory.

Thank you in advance for any donation you are able to make, no matter how big or small, in such economically uncertain times. It would mean the world to us if we are able to support some of our Dad's favourite interests, even after his death.

RIP Dad, we love you.
