In Memory of Neil Guest, my Lovely Dad
Donation protected
On 27th May 2024, my wonderful Dad was spending some time in the Garden when he had a fall which broke all of his ribs and punctured his lung, collapsing it and causing subcutaneous emphysema.
After the paramedics arrived, the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance were called. They responded extremely quickly and delivered a surgeon to perform an emergency thoracostomy before my Dad was moved to Addenbrookes Hospital.
He then spent a month in Intensive Care, putting up an extremely tough fight before the complications he experienced unfortunately became too much.
He passed peacefully with my mum, my sister and I by his side on Thursday 27th June 2024. This has left an enormous hole in our lives.
I have chosen to take on two challenges in memory of my Dad to raise money for two charities.
Essex & Herts Air Ambulance and the incredible work they did on that day gave our family some time with him which we will be forever grateful for. It took them 90 seconds to reach our house, and we would not have been able to have those cherished moments with my Dad without them. EHAAT rely heavily on donations and fundraising to operate, with limited support from the government and no access to the National Lottery funding.
Asthma & Lung UK have also been chosen to support research into Lung conditions as my dad suffered with COPD.
For my first challenge, I will be completing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks - a 24 mile, 12-hour target hike in the Yorkshire Dales.
For the second challenge, I will be doing a tandem skydive from 15,000ft.
Whilst I have completed the National 3 Peaks before, I have never taken part in a skydive. My Dad was a brave and courageous man, alongside many other traits that made him so special - so I will be calling on the bravery he taught me to have throughout these challenges.
Any donations to this page will be distributed between the two charities and are very much appreciated.
More details to come, updates will be posted on this page.
