Support the Family of Nathaniel Von De Vera

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Nathaniel Von De Vera at the age of 42 on May 1st, after nearly eight years of battling cancer with strength and resilience.

Nathaniel — affectionately known as Nate at work and Von at home and at church — was a kind, devoted, and deeply caring person who always showed up for those around him. He came to Canada from the Philippines in 2014 to build a life with his wife, Rhea, and worked hard to create a bright future for his family.

At work, Nate was a dedicated member of the TTC maintenance department since 2015, where he was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to help his team. Even on his hardest days, he continued to show up — a reflection of the commitment he carried and the responsibility he took seriously. He built meaningful relationships with his coworkers, and the respect and support he earned from the TTC community speak to the kind of person he was.

In his church community, Von was known for his faith, humility, and quiet strength. Together with Rhea, he built meaningful friendships and became an active part of the community. They consistently showed up to support church events and those around them, always willing to lend a hand wherever it was needed. He was someone people could count on — steady, dependable, and present — and the relationships they built there reflect the kind of people they are.

Above all, Nathaniel was a loving husband to Rhea and a proud father to Reid (11) and Vinz (7). He was a determined fighter who battled cancer relentlessly, wanting nothing more than as much time as possible with his boys — everything he did was for them. His love for his family was constant and unwavering, and they were the center of his world.

This fundraiser has been created to support Rhea and the boys during this incredibly difficult time and to help ease the financial burden they now face as they navigate life without Nathaniel.

Funds raised will go toward:
  • Funeral and burial expenses
  • Household bills and daily living costs
  • Supporting Rhea, Reid, and Vinz in the months ahead

Any support means more than words can express.

Thank you for helping us honour Nathaniel’s life and support the family he loved so deeply. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
