In Memory of Mr. Luis Jasso

From Jennifer Perry, Jennifer DeLange, Heather Houston and Leslie Wubbenhorst, Poe PTO Presidents 2017 - 2021:
On June 25, the Poe Elementary School community lost a wonderful man and dear friend. Mr. Luis Jasso was an important part of the place that our children and staff call home during the day (and often into the night), and was unwavering in his dedication to all of them. In many ways, he represented the heartbeat of Poe.
An unsung hero of our community who approached his work and everyone at school with kindness, patience, humor and the strongest work ethic, Mr. Jasso really loved the children and families of Poe, and we loved him right back. We cannot even begin to list the many events at Poe that would never have happened without his partnership and guidance. Most of the time he would take care of what parent volunteers needed for an event or activity even before we knew what to ask for. He spent so much time with Poe families and children, with an encouraging word and genuine care for the students, and for that we will be forever grateful.
Many people have asked how we can remember Mr. Jasso at school and also support his family at this time. $150 of funds raised here will go towards a Buddy / Friendship Bench placed on the Poe Playground in honor of Mr. Jasso, since he was truly a friend to everyone at Poe. He also loved his family so much and we appreciate them sharing him with us for so many years. All other funds raised will be given directly to his wife to cover funeral expenses or anything else needed by the family during this time.
Please keep Mr. Jasso's wife, grown children, grandchildren and parents in your heart during this time, as well as the staff at Poe who also considered him family. We will all miss him terribly, but are so thankful that he has been part of our lives.
