Alton here.
My heart is shattered and I'm not sure where to start, but here I go.
As you may know, Ron is a very close friend and his older brother passed away over the weekend.
I’m starting this campaign to support a family I care deeply about. They are navigating through exceptionally difficult times and my hope is to allow them to grieve in peace without the worry of ongoing logistics and financial costs relating to the loss of a loved one.
My goal is to raise 20K CDN by June 20th, 2022. All proceeds will go directly to Ron to distribute towards funeral costs, meals or anything else that can support the family overall.
Please join me in remembering Morris and supporting Ron and his family in whatever capacity you can.
How you can help:
Donate what you can. Write a message of support. Hug your loved ones and remind them why they’re special to you. Words combined with action go a long way.
Context
Morris was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer (sarcoma) back in Oct 2021.
At the time he was on dialysis and awaiting a kidney transplant when he learned of the news.
Morris spent the last few years battling like a champ and despite all things, he maintained a positive outlook on life and gave comfort & warmth to the people around him (classic Morris).
He was 39 when he passed in the early morning of June 3rd, 2022.
Morris was quick-witted, generous and incredibly kind. Intimidating in stature with a heart made of gold.
We lost a brother, a son, an uncle and a treasured friend.
Thank you for all the laughs, the inspiration and everything else.
Rest in peace, our gentle giant.
To Ron, Jordan, Mischell, Ching, Papa Alo, Mama Alo…. We love you and got your back.
