Morrie Weiss was an incredible husband, dad, and "Gramps"—a man known for his kindness, loyalty, humor, and deep devotion to his family and community. For 33 years, Morrie taught Physical Education and Health at Upper Moreland Junior High/Middle School, where he also coached football, wrestling, and track, and served as Athletic Director for many years. His impact extended beyond the classroom and field, as he also served as the Aquatics Director for the Upper Moreland Pool from its opening in 1970 until his retirement in 2003. Earlier in his career, Morrie was the Parks & Recreation Director, helping to establish Masons Mill Park, a beloved space for families and neighbors to gather and play. Morrie’s legacy is deeply woven into the fabric of Upper Moreland—through the parks he helped establish, the students and athletes he mentored, and the community he cherished. As a devout Jewish man, Morrie was active in his synagogue throughout his life, until it closed in 2024. Recently, Morrie was cared for at the Horsham Center for Jewish Life, where the on-site synagogue, led by Rabbi Shua, allowed him to reconnect with his Jewish roots and celebrate important holidays and Shabbat services. This experience brought him joy and comfort during the final two months of his life. To honor Morrie’s memory, donations will be distributed to three organizations that reflect his passions: Masons Mill Park, Upper Moreland Middle School Athletics/Booster Club/Natatorium, and the Horsham Center for Jewish Life. Your contribution will help continue Morrie’s legacy of kindness, service, and faith, making a difference in the lives of others just as he did.

A "Celebration of Life" was held on Sunday February 1, 2026 at Upper Moreland Middle School to honor Morrie, especially with regards to his contributions to the Upper Moreland schools and community. Many thanks to the 100+ people who braved the weather forecast to share memories and appreciation of our beloved dad/husband.
Thank you for honoring Morrie's legacy; Upper Moreland meant so much to him!
