In Memory of Monster
Tax deductible
In June 2019, Ryan and I decided to become Fosters for One Tail at A Time (OTAT). We got our first foster dog on June 20th. His name was Alastor Moody, and we lovingly renamed him to Monster. He was blind senior dog who was severely inbred, had significant skin issues, and an adorable underbite. Needless to say, we fell in love immediately. On June 26th, Monster suffered a stroke. At that point, it was the scariest thing we had ever been through. He was uncontrollably rolling on the floor, had extreme nausea, and was unable to walk on his own. We rushed him to the ER, and it was determined that he had a large cancerous mass on his spleen. A week later upon being discharged from the ER, after everything we had been through with him and the love we had for this special little dog, we wanted to permanently add him to our family. OTAT decided to keep Monster as a hospice foster, and we were his forever foster parents.
Monster was truly one of a kind. Nearly everyone he met was impacted by his sweet calm nature and tenacity for life. To those of you that did not get a chance to meet Monster, let me tell you, there isn’t anyone else like him.

As many of you know, on November 8th, Ryan suffered a traumatic brain injury while on a company trip in Mexico. We spent 9 days in the hospital, and on the day before he was discharged, Monster passed away. We were unable to say goodbye, but he was with friends and died in his sleep. Along with everything else that has been going on, this was a tremendous blow to the both of us and we’re still reeling from the pain and loss. Ryan was looking forward to recuperating with him by his side and I was looking forward to the emotional healing that only Monster cuddles could provide. In the wake of all this pain, we ask that instead of gifts for Ryan and I, that you donate to OTAT in Memory of our best friend.
