Support for the Family of Miguel De Jesus Hernandez

Donation protected
On April 3rd, 2025, we lost our beloved Miguel De Jesus Hernandez in a tragic workplace accident. Miguel was a kind, hardworking, and thoughtful person who always brought positivity to those around him. His sudden passing has left an unimaginable void in the lives of his family, friends, and coworkers.

Miguel was 40 years old and originally from Oaxaca, Mexico. He was proud of his Indigenous roots, a native speaker of Triqui who learned Spanish as his second language. Miguel carried a deep love for his culture and had big dreams of returning to his hometown to support his community. One of his greatest dreams was to build a school for Indigenous children, many of whom grow up without access to formal education and never have the opportunity to learn how to read or write in Spanish or in their native language. He envisioned a place where they could receive an education while preserving their language, culture, and traditions. Miguel was passionate about defending the rights of his people and being a voice for those too often unheard.

Miguel was the main source of support for his elderly parents, and younger brother. They don’t have financial resources of their own. They are currently trying to apply for a humanitarian visa to travel to the United States to say a final goodbye to their son, but they do not know where to begin and urgently need help and guidance with the process.

Miguel was a valued employee, and his funeral expenses have been covered by his employer. This fundraiser has been created to support his family during this incredibly difficult time. The funds raised will go directly to them to help with:
• Travel and lodging expenses.
• Humanitarian visa application support
• Ongoing living expenses for his parents and younger siblings

Miguel’s family will manage the funds with care and responsibility.
Any donation, no matter the amount, is deeply appreciated. If you're unable to contribute financially, please consider sharing this page to help honor Miguel’s memory and stand beside his family in their time of need.

Thank you for your compassion, support, and solidarity.
