In memory of Michael Paul Guzman

On Thanksgiving day, 2017, my mother Dona Bracke and I, were forced to say goodbye to Michael Guzman at the young age of 28, our loved and adored partner in crime, her son, my brother. Michael left such a positive mark on this world and the joy he received from being kind to people in need. The way you could tell his face lit up after being able to donate his time to a cause or a person, was undeniable.

I’ve never met someone so determined to put others needs in front of their own, Michael gave the people in his world everything he had, with all of his heart. Michael’s heart was so genuine and pure, he lived his life with integrity and what a solid man he turned out to be. The friends he made, he made into family and the family he left behind, will feel a part of their lives is a little less bright… a little less safe, a little less goodness in this world.

They say, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

The most characteristically ‘Michael’ thing of all, is that he never felt compelled to put his needs first. Michael lived his life paying it forward. That kiddo had a heart of gold.
