To our family and friends, it is with sadness to announce that our dad Michael Barrera has suddenly passed away due to his diagnoses of colon cancer and duodenal cancer in late March 2024. Our father underwent many chemo treatments but sadly the tumors were not responding to his treatment. The surgeons decided to remove both of the tumors, however they were only able to remove the tumor in his colon, leaving the duodenal cancer untreatable and not removable due to the aggression of the tumor. Our father’s faith and family , gave him stength to keep on fighting but due to complications of the surgery and from the tumor our father was no longer able to fight. Our father was devoted to his family, friends, and his work. His words of wisdom will continue to be the support that keeps our family strong. Our father was with our mother for 39 years and loved her with all his strength and heart. It has been very hard to accept his passing for all of us, but his memories with us will forever be cherished. Our father wanted to be cremated, we are planning a viewing for family and friends on Monday December 30th, 2024 from 4 pm- 9pm at Compean Funeral Home 2102 Broadway St
