Meet Michael. This is my nephew, Michael Jarrell Jr. On Sunday, 7/20/25, in the early hours, Michael was in a single car accident just two or three miles from our home.
The car he was driving for whatever reason started to go off the road and he (what I believe) tried to correct it and over corrected, causing him to swerve and hit a telephone pole and to flip several times.
He sustained multiple fractures including his neck, pelvis, and ribs. He also has lacerations to his main organs, the lungs, liver and kidneys.
When officers reached him, they said he was talking and coherent but of course in pain. They got him in an ambulance and on his way to the hospital. While Michael was in route to help, officers were trying to contact my husband and I as we were his legal guardians! They called both of our phones but by this time it’s nearly 3am and we’re sleeping. When they didn’t reach us they decided to send a sheriff to the house and do I remember that knock on the door so vaguely.
Michael is just crossing county lines because our small county does not have a hospital. As I’m jumping up to answer the door, suddenly Michael’s heart just stops. A sheriff road in the ambulance with my sweet Michael. When Michael flat lined that sheriff immediately started CPR. With their best efforts for nearly almost an hour of trying to bring Michael heartbeat back, MIchaels body was just to damaged and he was pronounced deceased at 2:58am

Back at the house my husband and I were in a frantic and honestly I just froze not even remembering that I was trying to put warmer clothes and shoes on. My husband was yelling my name and to me it was so muffled that I barely heard him.
I made it to the car and we were off to get to the hospital that was 30 miles away!
Once we reached the ER we told them who we were there for, and the kind receptionist took us to the “Family Room.”
We sat down and almost immediately a doctor came in filling us in on Michael and what had happened and how he got to the hospital. Then those sharp, stabbing, cold as ice words came from his mouth, I’m so sorry, Michael didn’t make it…
We took Michael in 8 years prior because his dad lost his life and Michael’s mom lost her rights. He had no one. I didn’t want him to feel alone because he had already experienced so much hurt at such a young age. And the only thing I could think of in that moment when life wasn’t fair was that I hoped somehow, someway, Michael knew I was coming! That I showed up and I would forever show up for him. My heart is barely beating and I am asking stranger to stranger, mother to mother, please help me give this boy his final gift and show him just what he meant to his uncle and I and his cousins that saw him more so as another brother. We had just removed all the older kids from our insurance and just as my lunch always is, this is out of pocket! Yes I’ve learned my lesson I will add the older kids back on. Any donation is something and a step closer!
I thank everyone in advance.♥️
