In Memory of Melissa Kruppa

On Saturday, June 20th, 2020, we lost Melissa Kruppa after a long, 80 day battle with Covid-19. She was 50 years old. Melissa fought this horrible disease every step of the way, showing her true strength and determination in doing so. Sadly, she succumbed to the virus. Melissa's loss truly resonates with all of us.
Melissa was a loving wife to her husband Kenny of 27 years. She was a devoted mother to her son Tyler and daughter Camryn. She also leaves behind her beloved dog Tucker. Her family was her life and her greatest accomplishment. Many of her most memorable times were spent at the Jersey Shore with her family and close friends.
Her devotion to her family, friends and her students best exemplifies who Melissa was as a person. Everyone who knows her shares the same sentiment, Melissa was the true meaning of a friend. She was always there to listen and to offer the best advice anyone could give. Melissa's lasting impact on the lives she touched will be felt by all of us forever.
Melissa was a devoted educator at Myra S. Barnes Intermediate School 24, serving as both a paraprofessional and special education teacher. Melissa touched the lives of hundreds of students throughout her career. Her loss to the IS 24 community is devastating. In the words of one of her former students, "To the woman who guided me and helped me overcome so many obstacles during my 7th grade year at IS 24, to hear about your loss was something I didn't expect. Thank you for all the lunches in your office, help with homework in EVERY subject, and the endless love and care you showed for all your students. You definitely left a lasting mark on me and will be forever missed."
We are collecting these funds to help offset the expenses associated with Melissa's loss. Once the funds are collected they will be transferred to Kenny and his children.
May tender memories soften our grief, may found recollection bring us relief. May we find comfort and peace in the thought that Melissa brought. For time and space can never divide, or keep Melissa from our side.
