On January 29th, 2021 the world lost an angel, she was beautiful, had the most brightest smile and impacted many people along her journey. She leaves behind 2 young teenage kids and an amazing husband. She fought a 3 year battle against triple negative breast cancer harder than anyone could have imagined. But she did it without ever allowing to accept defeat and always determined to keep going! Her support circle was enormous and she was loved to a level words can’t express properly. In this difficult grieving time we please ask everyone to wrap your prayers, and good vibes around her beautiful kids , Jesse her husband and her family. She meant so much to all of us and any donation helps with doing what would have made Melissa happy , starting to plan for the kids future. The family is very grateful for anything you can donate. May you rest in paradise my beautiful friend <3
The following Story written by Vanessa Munoz
Melissa Elizabeth Guinea is loved, she touched the lives of every person she came into contact with. She had this infectious energy and the kindest heart. She was a wife, mother, daughter, sister, granddaughter, aunty, sister-in-law, niece, cousin and amazing friend.
God worked through Melissa. She taught us how to love each other. She taught us what it meant to be strong (in every way) and to remain committed to our faith. Melissa was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer in 2018 alongside her younger sister. Melissa always put her sister first and knew together, they were unstoppable. They beat cancer together and loved each other in the most precious way. In April 2020, Melissa’s cancer returned and it was another battle that she never wavered. She fought every day for her kids, husband, family and friends. She is the strongest, bravest, most beautiful soul that I have ever met. She makes you want to be the best version of yourself.
Prior to her battles, she could light up the room with her singing, dancing and contagious laugh. Her love for cheetah print, all shoes, mustard yellow, running long distance, living healthy and CrossFit was everything! She was ambitious and always supported her family while following her dreams! She worked as a surgical technician for 8 years at Woodland Memorial and Mercy General Hospital, while completing courses towards her Associate Degree and was very close to finishing her pre-requisites to apply for nursing school. It was a dream of hers to one day become a nurse. Melissa never gave up and she loved the medical field and learning with all her heart.
Melissa married her high school sweetheart Jesse DeLaCruz and together they built a beautiful life together. Melissa loved her daughter, Mariela and her son, Evin with all her heart. Her most important role in life was being their mom. She raised them to be kind and to always embrace God’s love. Melissa’s spirit will live on through her children and they will do amazing things! We ask that in lieu of sending flowers, that you make a donation to Melissa’s children.

Melissa’s spirit was infectious and always will be. Her strength amazed those around her and gave will to her family to continue moving forward. She was a warrior like no other and her story reached far beyond what we imagined. Her legacy is beyond extraordinary and her love, strength, and power remain in those here on this earth to guide her loved ones. Anyone can agree it was a privilege to know her and be in her presence. We are thankful for anyone and everyone who thought of and loved Melissa and who she was.
