In Memory of Melanie: Support for Her Children

Donation protected
Dear Friends, Family, and Community,

It is with heavy hearts that we share the deeply sorrowful news of the passing of our beloved Melanie. After a courageous 21-month battle against cancer, which included life-saving surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation, and countless medications, Melanie has found peace with our Heavenly Father. Throughout her fight, she faced relentless pain, fatigue, hospitalizations, and seizures, but her spirit remained unbreakable. Melanie's unwavering determination and deep faith are an inspiration to all who knew her.

John 8:12 says, "I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life."

Melanie's mother, Betty shares her last moments: "What a beautiful day! What a beautiful gift from our Father in Heaven! Our precious girl took her last breath at 4:03 pm today as I was holding her in my arms singing "hush little baby don't say a word", her breathing slowed down as she felt the comfort of her mother holding her like when she was a baby. All of a sudden she opened her eyes like she saw something in the distance. I kept holding her tight and singing when she took her last breath. She went in peace...thank you Father for the biggest gift you could have ever given us. We will serve you and honor you our God and our King for the rest of our lives."

Melanie was a devoted mother, cherishing her four children (ages 5, 12, 16, and 17) above all else. Her love for them was the driving force that kept her going, even on the toughest days. Her kindness and selflessness shone brightly as she continuously put others first, all while managing her small business, volunteering at her community church, and assisting her two brothers, Richie and David, in building their martial arts school.

Having moved from Florida to Texas to be near her parents and brothers, Melanie immersed herself in her family and community. The financial burden of her illness was immense—medical bills, daily expenses, and the need to provide for her children added to the strain.

We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support from family and friends who reached out during these unimaginable months, organized meal trains, and held fundraisers in Melanie’s honor. Melanie’s parents, Felix and Betty Rodriguez, along with her brothers and daughter-in-law, Natalie, are now focused on helping Melanie’s children through this difficult time.

The children will continue to be nurtured with love and faith as they live with their devoted grandparents.

The details for the funeral and burial will be shared soon. The children need to have supportive people around them to share in grieving, celebrating, and helping them through this healing process.

Many have asked how they can help. The children will need financial support for their education, and help is needed in paying the funeral costs. We have set up this GoFundMe account where donations can be made. No matter the size, every contribution will make a meaningful difference in ensuring the children’s well-being and stability.

Please continue to keep Melanie’s family in your thoughts and prayers. Your compassion, generosity, and support mean the world to us during this challenging time.

With heartfelt gratitude.
