In memory of Matthew Vinci

Hello, this is Liz Lowe and Ray Hogan, niece and friend of Matthew Vinci, who some of you know lost his battle to a rare and fast-acting cancer on September 9. We have started this GoFundMe campaign on behalf of his wife, Donna, and twelve year old son Matteo. With Donna’s permission, we are asking for support for the Vinci family so that they may grieve without simultaneously enduring a heavy financial hardship.

Their simple yet full life was supported by two incomes, and in the

last year, the disability Matthew received while out of work. Many

healthcare costs were covered by insurance but not all. It’s been a

year of hope, pain, love and fear. It is our wish to make this next

year just a little easier and provide Matteo with a foundation for his very bright future.

To say Matthew Vinci was a creative man was to underestimate his

talent and keen understanding of color, movement, shapes, lines, and sounds of a project. To the world over he was a founding member and bass player of the power metal pioneers Liege Lord, recording three genre-defining albums in the 1980s and reforming in 2012. To others he was a world-class photographer, shooting their wedding or working for the local paper, The Norwalk Hour. To his wife, Donna and child, Matthew, he was the artful curator of their life.

In his last decade, Matthew fell in love with and humbly began a career in restoring furniture and interior design. Playing out his ideas at home, Matthew created a haven of color and texture, masterfully combining historical pieces with those with a new story to be told. He was incredibly happy pursuing this interest when he was diagnosed with cancer just one year ago, on the eve of a Liege Lord trip to Europe.

Matthew, with his wife always by his side, fought hard to live, enduring treatments the doctors believed would prolong his life, their lives together. Matthew was a devoted husband and loving father. He was their caretaker. Their provider. In his last weeks he worried how his family could best move

forward unburdened. We hope to alleviate these worries and allow our Matty to rest peacefully.
