In Memory of Matthew Burke

We are heartbroken to share the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Matthew Burke, on May 3, 2025.

Matthew served as Registrar and Program Coordinator for the World Bank’s Institutional Art Program for nearly 25 years. He was deeply committed to the role of art in society and brought joy, reflection, and meaning to countless staff and visitors through his work.

Matthew often spoke lovingly of his family, who were the center of his life. He also shared his passions for cooking, theater, and Americana with warmth, wit, and generosity.

This fund is being raised to support Matthew’s family during this difficult time, in honor of a life lived with care, creativity, and heart.
