In Memory of Matt: Support for the Choate Family
Donation protected
Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,
If you knew our dad you would know he was the definition of humility and strength. He would give you the shirt off his back and be there at the drop of a pen.
Recently, he noticed an open wound on his elbow and began nursing it like a typical cut. A few days later he began experiencing what felt like flu symptoms. He brushed it off and said he would go to the doctor after the holiday weekend. Sunday morning (7/7) our mom woke him up and knew immediately something was wrong. He was extremely disoriented and struggling to breathe. After paramedics arrived they assessed the severity of the situation and decided to air lift him to Mercy in St. Louis. He was later diagnosed with infective endocarditis. This infection caused his body to go into septic shock which then caused multiple strokes.
He was admitted to the neuro-ICU and was monitored thoroughly with the best team of medical professionals. After a week long fight, our dad went to be with Jesus at 11:02 am on July 14th surrounded by his entire family.
We can only hope that our dad’s story would be one that could spread awareness of this terrible sickness that can so easily be missed.
Any amount, big or small, will make a significant difference and help us put our sweet daddy to rest and help my mom with medical and funeral cost ! If you are unable to donate, please uplift our mom and our family in your prayers and if you can share this campaign with others, it would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support during this incredibly difficult time.
With gratitude,
