In Memory of Matt Cappadona: A Donation to ZUMIX
To honor the memory of our friend and Toast family member Matt Cappadona, we'll be collecting money to donate in his name to ZUMIX .
A many of you know, Matt loved music. He had a pretty incredible breadth of music knowledge across all genres. He loved to play music, especially guitar, and spent a lot of time recording in his friends studio. Beyond that, Matt was a hilarious guy, a caring friend, and a huge part of the HWOps team. His passing hit the team hard and he's greatly missed.
In light of this, it's a fitting tribute to Matt that part of his legacy should be to share his love of music with kids. Whether it be kids learning how to play guitar, how to record, or how to run a radio station, Matt would be happy to know they were empowered in his name.
The goal of ZUMIX is to provide greater access to the arts for kids in East Boston. They serve a broad range of ages and have a variety of programs, including Songwriting & Performance, ZUMIX Radio (94.9 FM), Creative Media & Technology (they have a recording studio!), music theory, and instrument lessons.
"ZUMIX is an East Boston-based nonprofit organization dedicated to building our community through music and creative technology. A core belief is that music is the most powerful means of developing adolescent self-identity. Our award-winning music and creative technology programming is designed to equip youth with the tools necessary to reach their full potential, while creating a safe space for youth to explore who they are and who they want to be. Through community events, ZUMIX provides access to top-quality arts experiences for a low-income, under-served neighborhood."
We're grateful for any contribution made in his honor.
