We announce with a heavy heart our beloved mother, Tia Nena “MaryHelen” Cruz has passed.

As some of you maybe or may have not been aware our mom was hospitalized this past summer. During her hospitalization the doctors confirmed she had a heart attack and went under immediate surgery to receive a pace maker. Shortly after her stay we received confirmation she had Stage 3 Lung Cancer. On January 19th, she had a second heart attack and was in severe critical condition.

During this intensive stay and multiple test later doctors informed us she had pneumonia and her cancer progressed to Stage 4. Once our mother was removed from intubation, she went under a procedure to remove the liquid from her lungs. At this time, it was now confirmed her heart was functioning at 28%.

After this heart attack and intubation she lost mobility in her arms and legs. Her voice was also effected. From there she went to a rehabilitation facility to try and get her strength back. Unfortunately, she never regained her mobility.

She was released into hospice care Monday, February 26th. She was home for two days prior to her passing.

On February 29th, at 10:45am she went to be with the lord.

Our mother was a beautiful woman with a great heart. She welcomed any and all into her home. In her later years, she had more spunk and wit than anyone could have ever imagined.

She fought until she took her very last breathe. She is now healthy, resting and at peace with her husband George Cruz Sr.

Wow, where do we begin.

First and foremost we’d like to thank everyone for your prayers, donation and shares. Our mother was highly favored and loved by many. These past days have been extremely hard. Every second that passes feels like minutes and every minute feels like hours. We are in the process of planning the services. Once we receive final details and confirmations we will update.
