It is with unimaginable heartbreak that we share the sudden passing of our beloved Mary Lou Blume. Mary Lou was truly one of a kind—a character in her own beautiful way. A proud Irish woman with a spirit that could light up any room, she showed up for everyone and everything. If someone needed her, she didn’t hesitate—she was already there.

Mary Lou came from a big, proud family of 13 children, all born and raised right here in our community. Through every triumph and heartbreak, she remained a true matriarch. Even after losing her beloved sisters and brother, she continued to stand tall, facing every challenge with grace, confidence, and a strength that inspired all who knew her.

She was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother, a devoted mother to her daughter Heidi, and a beautiful spirit that any niece, nephew, friend, or even foe could call upon for help. She loved her people fiercely—often more than she cared for herself. If you knew Mary Lou, you know that these words barely scratch the surface of the woman she truly was.

As we begin the painful process of planning her services, our only wish is to give her the dignity, peace, and honor she so deeply deserved. Due to financial hardship, our family is asking our community for help. Any contribution—no matter the amount—will help us lay Mary Lou to rest with the grace she earned every day of her life.
