Hello everyone, my name is Kevin Armstrong, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart on behalf of my wife, Valeria, and our family. We recently lost her mother, Maria or as her loved ones called her Maru.

It’s truly hard to find words that do justice to what Maru meant to me and to her family. From the day she met me, she welcomed me into her life with open arms — and with chilaquiles that always had us going back for seconds. She loved to laugh, watching her game shows, sunflowers, and, most of all, being surrounded by the people she loved.

We’ve created this fundraiser to help ease some of the financial stress on Maru’s husband, Joseluis, during this difficult time. Along with the funeral expenses, there are hospital bills and lost income from the time he’s had to take off work to care for her and grieve. Our hope is that this will bring him a bit of peace and allow him to focus on family and remembering the beautiful life Maru lived.

Es realmente difícil encontrar palabras que hagan justicia a lo que Maru significaba para mí y para su familia. Además de los gastos del funeral, hay facturas del hospital y la pérdida de ingresos por el tiempo que ha tenido que tomar para cuidarla y para poder vivir su duelo. Nuestra esperanza es que esto le traiga un poco de tranquilidad y le permita concentrarse en la familia y en recordar la hermosa vida que Maru vivió.
