In Memory of Mars 'Mannu' Ambos

On October 21, 2024, we unexpectedly lost our dear friend and family member, Mars 'Mannu' Ambos.

Mars had an incredible spirit, and was the type of person you never forget meeting. They made friends wherever they went, said yes to any and every adventure, and lived life in a full, wholehearted way that most people could only aspire to.

Mars grew up in Tartu, Estonia with their Mom, Dad, and two sisters. They recently visited their hometown with Elaina, where the two got to spend a few weeks venturing around the areas where Mars grew up, meeting family and friends along the way. They took their nephew to a trampoline park, where the two successfully taught Elaina to do her first front flip.

Mars was anything but ordinary. They lived in a little white school bus near the ocean, and were one of the caretakers at the local marina. They were always on their feet, fixing and building things all day long, with their cat Lomi (who is just as bold and wild as Mars), just a few steps behind at all times. Mars could fix or build literally anything. Hot tubs, saunas, house renovations, random repairs you couldn't possibly figure out yourself - Mars had it covered.

When they weren't busy with their handiwork, they could be found hunting for secret saunas, singing in the Estonian choir, socializing, playing sports, giving their friends haircuts, or spending time with their love, Elaina.

Anyone who got to witness Mars and Elaina's relationship, could easily say they were meant for each other. They were two unique souls that just clicked, and lived life to the fullest side by side.

Mars was loved by so many - Elaina, their animals Lomi and Cliff, family and friends back in Estonia, friends they made here in Canada, and adventure buddies they have made all over the world on their travels. Mars will always have a place in our hearts. How lucky we all are to have crossed paths with them in this short life. It's just not possible to ever forget the magic that was Mars.

Kate Grinter, Anita Le, and myself have chosen to set up this Go Fund Me as a way to help alleviate some of the financial stress for Elaina and the family that this process will bring. Donations will help cover administrative costs, funeral service fees, and any travel that may be required between Estonia and Canada for Elaina.

There will be more details to come about a celebration of life once arrangements have been made. We are unsure of a timeline at this point. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

21. oktoobril. 2024 kaotasime ootamatult kalli sõbra ja pereliikme Mars “Mannu” Ambose.

Mars oli inimene kellel oli kõige unustamatuim ja erakordsem hing. Ta leidis sõpru igalpool, oli alati seiklusvalmis ning elas oma elu avatud südamega.

Mars kasvas üles Tartus, koos ema, isa ja kahe õega. Just hiljuti külastas Mars oma kodulinna koos Elainaga kus nad veetsid aega sõprade ja perega ning reisisid mööda Eestimaad. Nad isegi käisid batuudikeskuses koos Marsi õepojaga kus nad õpetasid Elainat saltot tegema.

Mars ei olnud tavaline isiksus. Ta elas ookeani ääres valges koolibussis, kus ta oli üks sadama hooldajatest. Ta ei püsinud kunagi paigal: ta alati parandas või ehitas miskit. Ja kus oli Mars, seal oli ka tema kass Lomi ta kannul, kes on sama julge ja metsik nagu Mars ise.

Marsil oli oskus parandada, luua ja ehitada peaaegu kõike, alustades kümblustünnide ja saunadega, lõpetades majaremondiga. Parandustööd mis tundusid teistele võimatud olid Marsi jaoks ainult uuteks põnevateks väljakutseteks.

Vabal ajal oli Mars alati liikvel. Olenevalt päevast, võis teda leida salajasi saunu otsimast kohalikest metsadest, sõpradega aega veetmast, sporti mängimast, Eesti kooris laulmast, sõprade juukseid lõikamast või oma kallima Elainaga koos olemast.

Inimesed kes nägid Marsi ja Elainat koos, nägid et nad olid teineteise jaoks loodud. Kaks unikaalset hinge kes sobisid ideaalselt kokku ja elasid oma elu täiel rinnal.

Mars oli paljude poolt armastatud: Elaina, nende koduloomade Lomi ja Cliffi, perekonna ja sõprade poolt Eestis, Kanada sõprade poolt ja ka reisisõprade poolt üle maailma. Mars jääb alatiseks meie südameisse.

Oleme nii õnnelikud ja tänulikud et meil oli võimalus temaga selles lühikeses elus kohtuda. Marsi maagiline isiksus jääb igaveseks meie mällu ja hinge.

Lõime koos Kate Grinteri ja Anita Le’ga selle GoFundMe lehe, et leevendada Elaina ja pere jaoks selle olukorraga seotud finantsilist koormust. Teie annetused aitavad katta administratiivseid kulusid, matusekorraldusi ja võimalikku reisikulu Eesti ja Kanada vahel Elaina jaoks.
