Hello, my name is Sarah, and I was lucky to call Mark Wehrung my neighbor and friend. Mark was an incredibly selfless person with a heart of gold—someone who put others before himself. Whether it was helping our neighbor Johnny, a retired veteran, with grocery shopping and errands, or shoveling snow for our building, Mark never hesitated to lend a hand.
Mark embraced life fully. He was at home in nature - Mark loved exploring national parks, tracking and photographing wildlife, and volunteering at Yellowstone when he lived in Bozeman, MT. An artist at heart, he expressed himself through photography, painting, pottery, tile mosaics, and collecting art. Here in New Orleans, he was deeply loved by his family, workmates, and neighborhood community. He had a quick wit, a kind soul, and a deep appreciation for celebrating life—New Orleans style.
Mark passed away unexpectedly at his home in New Orleans on March 3, 2025, at just 57 years old. His sudden loss has left his loved ones heartbroken and facing unforeseen challenges. He was in the middle of living a life, so not all of his affairs were in order. His family is now navigating the complex legal process to settle them.
This GoFundMe is set up to assist Mark’s family during this difficult time, helping with legal expenses and other costs associated with his passing. Any amount is deeply appreciated, and if you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean the world to us.
Thank you for your kindness and support. Mark was someone who gave so much to others—this is our chance to give back in his memory.
