In memory of Mark McLean

Hi, my name is Heather Whitfiled (MacLean). The MacLean family is raising funds in memory of our brother, Mark MacLean, formerly of Thessalon, who passed away on April 9, 2022. His family has initiated a fund-raiser for his beloved fried Marianne Gelig, from Tacloban, Philippines. Mark met Marianne in 2007 and moved to the Philippines in 2009. Mark lived with Marianne and became part of the Gelig family until his passing. In 2021, Marianne, 44, was diagnosed with breast cancer and, after waiting for three months for surgery, it was determined that she had stage 3 cancer and it had metastasized. Currently, Marianne has just been released from the hospital after not responding well to the fifth of nine rounds of chemotherapy, not looking forward to the 33 doses of radiation treatment yet to come. She already knows that further surgery is required. Residents of the Philippines do not enjoy the same type of universal health care that Canadians do and we know that Mark would want to help Marianne with the costs of her medical care, treatments, and recovery. Any support would be greatly appreciated. Family and friends of Mark are indebted to Marianne for the excellent care that was provided to Mark, and for making him feel a part of her family thank you.
