We mourn the loss of Mark Sean Carlson, who died on August 3, 2020 after a short and brutal battle with colon cancer. He leaves behind all of us, including his wife Jennifer and sons Cameron (17) and Colin (15). Jen’s colleagues at work have initiated this fund with the goal of getting the two boys through college. Mark loved his family and was genuinely proud of his boys. We will remember him with a coffee mug in his hand and a devilish grin on his face. We will miss his sharp wit, his calm demeanor and innate kindness. We remember him saying “this place has great coconut cream pie” and “Seriously Jennifer.” We are thankful he taught the kids to fish while camping and that he was skilled at getting the campfire started. We forgive him for suggesting to meet you at 9, and not waking up until 10. Mark was a great husband, father and friend, from the ski slopes to the golf course to the sidelines of a baseball diamond or tennis court. He was a reliable coworker and a continuous source of new knowledge and keen insight. Mark never complained, even to the last. That is why, in part, we were taken by surprise with the news of his passing. We are seeking to create a college fund of $150K for Cameron and $150K for Colin to help them achieve their next chapter of growth. Nothing can bring Mark back. Nothing can ease the pain of his wife and sons. But we can help support them through this loss.
