Mario Magdaleno Merino Bravo, age 59, passed away on April 24, 2025. Born on July 22, 1965, in Progreso, Piaxtla, Puebla, Mexico, Mario immigrated to the United States in 1980, driven by the dream of building a brighter future.
Throughout his life, Mario was deeply respected for his incredible work ethic and dedication to excellence. His career in the hospitality industry began in 1991 at The Houstonian in Houston, Texas, where he started as a waiter and soon took on additional responsibilities as a doorman and even driver. In 1995, Mario joined the Four Seasons Hotel in Houston, dedicating more than two decades of service—first as a food runner and later excelling in the banquet department, a role perfectly suited to his warm personality and meticulous attention to detail. He concluded his distinguished hospitality career at the St. Regis Houston. Mario frequently shared fond memories of friendships formed during these years, reflecting the charisma, humor, and genuine warmth that endeared him to colleagues and guests alike.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mario was a source of joy and laughter for everyone he encountered. Known as the life of the party, his engaging stories and natural ability to connect with others made him unforgettable. Conversations with Mario were effortless and memorable—he brought enthusiasm, curiosity, and kindness to every interaction, leaving people smiling long after they parted ways.
Mario found happiness in life's simple pleasures, always cherishing time outdoors, whether it was tending to his lawn, taking on new projects around the house, or just enjoying quiet moments watching the rain from his garage. An avid soccer fan, he especially treasured afternoons spent watching a game from the garage and watching his sons play in the neighborhood, proudly offering them guidance, love, and support. His charisma and generosity were boundless, making time for his sons and family no matter how busy life became.
Mario is survived by his sons, Mario Alberto Merino and Carlos Jonathan Merino; his beloved grandson, Leonardo Alfonso Merino; and his wife, Lorena Merino.
Mario’s life stands as a testament to perseverance, kindness, and deep devotion to family. He will forever be cherished and deeply missed.
