Hello. My name is Daniel Guevara, the son of Maria Olimpia Guevara. Many people knew her as a teacher, sister of the church, friend, and family. But one thing that everyone knows her as, is the most kind-hearted, self-sacrificing, and sweetest person you have ever met. My mom would sacrifice anything for someone who was in need, regardless of who they were to her. It brings me such sadness to say that my mother passed away in her sleep from complications caused by her cancer that she has been battling since the beginning of 2025. During those times, my mom never gave up her faith in her strength and courage and still worried for people around her. Even in her pain, she still found time to scold me and give me advice to help me become the man I am today.

I know for many, you may not have been aware of the severity of her sickness. It was her desire to not want to burden anyone else and still found ways to help anyone who came for her aid. Knowing my mother, she would be against me making this—she’s always been the one to carry everyone else’s burdens without ever asking for help herself. But during these times, any support would help lighten that weight.

I'd also like to take this time for people who are comfortable and want to share stories or photos that they have of my mom to please email them to me.

All is not lost. The love that my mother passed through everyone she loved is still within us and I cannot be more grateful for being her son. Gracias por todo el amor que has compartido conmigo y con todo el mundo, mamá. Te amo.
