Thank you for visiting the Gofundme page for Margaret Sykes who was a much loved wife, mother, sister and aunt.

Sadly, on Nov 13 2020 Margaret passed away peacefully at home after a long illness.

Margaret was diagnosed with breastcancer  in Jan 2018 and fought bravely for the next 3 years however, even her great strength and determination to hang on to life was not enough. Margaret received exceptional treatment, care and support from many healthcare and charity providers during her journey for which we are all truly thankful.

We are all devastated to lose such a beautiful, and caring member of our family, but we are comforted by the kind words, cards and flowers we have received from family, friends, colleagues and all who knew her.

My daughter, Jessica (9) and I will be running a marathon - Jessica will run 1 mile per day for 26 days around the local area and I will be running the London marathon on Oct 21  carrying a 20Kg backpack. We hope to raise money for the Carlow/Kilkenny Homecare Team who provided outstanding Palliative Care to Margaret during her final stages of life. This organisation is reliant on donations from the local community In order to continue to provide its outstanding level of support and care services. 

Since 1989 this service has been available through the Carlow Kilkenny Home Care Team. The role of the palliative care team is to provide a palliative care service for patients with cancer at all stages of their disease.
