On Monday July 6th, 2020, heaven gained a father, brother, friend, and kind soul of Marco John Wilkerson, age 57. His passing was due to respiratory failure caused by his underlying health conditions (explained further below). Although the emotions and grief are present, there is comfort in knowing that he is at peace now with our creator with a full heart from a joyful life, looking down with a memory and presence that will never perish.
Marco has always been a fighter. He survived a rare neurological auto-immune disease known as Guillain-Barré Syndrome in his late twenties that left him temporarily paralyzed. He made a full recovery, went on to live a normal life and raised a wonderful family, but dealt with a compromised immune system for the rest of his life. Over the last few years, Marco's health began to decline. He was diagnosed with COPD, DVT, and Stage 3 Kidney Disease, which caused very high blood pressure that became increasingly difficult to manage and resulted in frequent hospitalizations and numerous prescription drugs. His declining health and the side effects of his prescription drugs limited his ability to work full-time. Marco's underlying health conditions put him at high risk during the recent COVID-19 outbreak which required him to quarantine at home during the outbreak unable to work. These compounding effects of Marco's recent health setbacks made it increasingly difficult for him to work and maintain income to afford his living expenses, extensive medical bills, and life insurance policy. Marco's passing was sudden, yet it was in the comfort of his home. His two sons, Conrad and Chandler, are raising funds to help them pay for the out-of-pocket cost of Marco's cremation and memorial services.
Marco was most proud of his sons, Conrad and Chandler, and the men that he raised them to become. Marco enjoyed fishing, riding ATV’s, shooting guns, racquet ball, golf, walking his dog Remington, and watching football and NASCAR. He was very outgoing, personable, and his relationships were very important to him. Marco was known by his friends and family as the “life of the party”. Marco was a member of the Boise Rescue Mission, Shiloh Community Church, Men’s Art Council, Celebrate Recovery, and AA.
Marco’s Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on Saturday August 22, 2020 at 10am at the Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary located at 6500 E Bell Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85254.
