Ironman in memory of Liz and support research into DSRCT
Donation protected
This year I will be attempting to complete my first Ironman Triathlon, I will be raising money in memory of Elizabeth Hatton. Elizabeth had a rare case of cancer called Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumour, so rare that there are only 12 cases a year in the UK and it is without a set treatment path because no-one has found a treatment that works. Sadly, Liz died only 10 months after being diagnosed at the age of 17 and the final wish on her bucket list was to improve DSRCT treatment; as a cancer it gets no funding from governments or pharmaceutical companies.
Elizabeth’s story has touched me deeply; she showed in her last few months such courage and strength. Creating memories with her family which will last forever; her passion for photography took them to photo shoots with celebrities, artist and royalty and Liz’s photos are truly inspiring. I have attached a couple to share.
I will be attempting to complete my first Ironman Triathlon in Hamburg Germany this, I have completed ½ Ironman races before, but this is the next BIG level. I would love to try raise some donations to help Liz fulfil her final wish and “No one is finally dead until the ripples they cause in the world die away”
(so beautifully expressed by Liz’s family).
