I have never started a GoFundMe. There are few causes that warrant a need for one, in my opinion. This cause is one of them.
Our friend, Liliana Mendoza, passed away on December 23, 2018. If you knew Lili, you know her smile was radiant, kind and genuine. It's a smile your don't forget. You know she loved to joke around and she always made conversation about you. She would ask you questions about your life and share stories that will make you feel included. Lili was also someone who would give you a good dose of honesty when you needed to hear it. She was gentle in her approach and kind in the delivery of her words. Lili was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She was the depiction of unconditional love for her family. She was supportive of her husband and a "mama bear" to their 4 children. She was thrifty, creative and a problem-solver in her home. Honestly, if you knew Lili, you know that it was easy to love her. I've never heard anyone speak a negative word about her and I never heard her speak negatively about anyone.
We may never understand why we have to lose loved ones so soon, but there are questions that don't need an answer. What's important is to celebrate the life of a person who genuinely touched our lives just by being herself. We celebrate and keep those beautiful memories alive for her children who should always know what an amazing woman their mother was. While there is nothing that will make this pain feel easier for a family that is grieving, a financial contribution will at least help ease some of the unexpected expenses. I know that Lili would be sitting here writing a similar page for a friend in need, so here I am asking you to consider helping. I also know that if you are not in a financial position to help, Lili would reassure you not to worry and to take this time to reflect on your life and appreciate the gifts you have around you.
