In memory of Lileen Shannon
Donation protected
As many of you know, Lileen Shannon passed away early morning on September 25, 2022. We are all saddened by her sudden loss. If you would like to support her family during this time, I'm sure Lileen would be so grateful and would have written each of you handwritten thank you cards.
Lileen was a genuine, kind, passionate, hardworking, thoughtful, organized, and funny person. She was a fierce advocate for equity and justice and spent her career participating in and leading social justice work. She led and supported our SparkPoint work over the years with such a commitment to the model, the partners, and the clients whose lives have changed forever.
Lileen joined the United Way Bay Area team in 2008. She started on the Community Impact Team supporting our grantmaking initiatives and community partnerships both in Education and SparkPoint. She worked for a very long time in our Vallejo office and then in our Oakland office before we moved over to the San Francisco office in 2016. Lileen’s role grew over the years, but she never stopped being a fierce advocate for community and for UWBA.
Lileen was a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, coach, colleague, advocate, ally, and our dear friend, among many roles she played in her lifetime.
Please join us in celebrating her life and supporting her family at this time.
