Leilani loved the outdoors and recently had spent much of her time paddle boarding as a way to enjoy the gorgeous closing summer/early fall weather and be around the water, which she has always loved.
On Thursday, October 15, Leilani paddled away from the shore to never return. Her body was recovered Sunday morning and now her family is having to bear the burden of planning a funeral across the country, transporting her body, all while grieving the loss of a true angel on earth.
To have known Leilani was to love Leilani. She was brilliant, quick-witted, always willing to help a hand, and had a smile that could light up any room. She was a learning manager at Capital One, a doctoral student at George Mason, and had so much to offer this world. She will truly be missed.
Please consider donating to the family to help cover the immense costs that lie ahead. Every little bit will help. The funds with be distributed to Shea Walters, and then she will send it on directly to the family to cover funeral costs.
