Laura Beth (Wood) Pomeroy, age 38, of Howell, MI died Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020. Laura fought a spectacular array of health problems, likely due to complications related to the very treatments that extended her life after being diagnosed with Leukemia at age 5. Laura defied and confused doctors for more than 30 years by fighting against multiple cancers, congestive heart failure, kidney failure, mesothelioma and a whole list of other things that she herself got tired of reciting.
Laura is survived by her great love and husband, Joshua Pomeroy, daughter Kimmee Pomeroy and son Alex Pomeroy, her father David Wood and mother Nancy Wood, sister Natalie Wood and brother-in-law Erick Hernand, niece and nephew Claire Hernand and James Hernand, brother Nathanael Wood and sister-in-law Ashley Wood and her precious furbabies, Chloe and Max.
Laura was a crafter, cook and musician. She brought together the people she loved over homemade soup, a pie from scratch, a handwritten card, a craft, a blank canvas, a fabulously silly joke and so very many card games and board games.
We want to thank you, Laura, for being strong and stubborn and giving us more time with you than should have been possible.
“The COVID” is preventing a traditional funeral, which she didn’t want anyway. In the meantime, share your memories of her and we’ll throw a party down the road. She planned every detail of this future party, so it will be a guaranteed good time and will feel like Laura is in the other room finishing half a dozen dishes.
Laura wasn’t ever much of a flower person, but she would love to know that we are all taking care of Josh and the kids as they navigate what life will mean without her. Therefore in lieu of flowers, if you have access to Josh, please reach out to him directly. If you are here because you love someone who loved her, please know that we want Josh and his family supported through this time and we thank you deeply for donating here. 100% of what is collected will be given to Josh to help them deal with the medical bills that will continue to trickle in, and make sure Josh can grieve and grow without having to worry about bills.
Now go do something that makes you laugh. She would love that.
