Celebrating the memory of Larry "Chappie" Chapman by supporting the Dawn School of Chattanooga.
Larry Chapman (or Chappie or Watermelon!), of Barboursville, passed away Sunday, August 27, 2017. He was born December 21, 1946 in Huntington, a son of Virginia Stollings Chapman of Barboursville, and the late Harvey Chapman, Jr. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irise Chapman. Larry is survived by his daughter, Erica Chapman of Dobbs Ferry, NY; son, Shane Chapman of Hernando, MS: brother, Rick Chapman, Phillipines; and four grandchildren. Based on his wishes, the family has chosen to have a small private gathering at a later date. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, is in charge of arrangements. Larry devoted his professional life to children with serious emotional disturbances. One of his greatest accomplishments was designing and leading a school for this population of children, The Dawn School of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
