With deep sorrow, the Ung family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and dear friend, Mr. Ung Kim Lam, who entered eternal rest at 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at his home in Annandale, Virginia. He was 69 years old.

Lam will be remembered for his kindness, vibrant personality, unwavering devotion to his family, and faithful service to the Vietnamese Catholic Church and community. He touched the lives of many through his outgoing spirit, generosity, reliability, and genuine care for others. Whether showing up early to help, offering support without hesitation, or simply making others laugh, Lam brought warmth and energy wherever he went.

To his family, he was a source of love, humor, wisdom, and constant encouragement. He had a gift for making people feel welcomed and cared for, often through conversation, laughter, and sharing meals together. Lam was known for his love of good food, relaxing days at the beach, lively storytelling, and his famously terrible jokes that somehow still made everyone laugh. Many in the Vietnamese community also knew him as the neighborhood “Vietnamese paper boy,” always making his rounds delivering newspapers and somehow turning a simple delivery into a full conversation. His presence brought comfort, joy, and a sense of togetherness that will be deeply missed.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Tu Thi Ngan; his daughters, Leslie Ung (Mauro Salas), Lillian Ung Le (Alan Le), and Laura Ung (Alexander Reich); his cherished six grandchildren (Lorenzo, Leonardo, Lennox, Leighton, Lana, and Layla); siblings (Ung Kim Lan - Germany, Ung Kim Lieng - California, and Ung Kim Long - Delaware/Virginia); extended family members; and many dear friends whose lives were forever enriched by knowing him.

Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort in the love, faith, and beautiful memories he leaves behind. May he rest peacefully in God’s eternal embrace.

During this incredibly difficult time, we are raising funds to help support his family with funeral and memorial expenses, as well as to help ease financial burdens while his wife takes time to grieve and get their finances in order.

Any contribution, no matter the amount, would be deeply appreciated. If you are unable to donate, we ask that you please share this page and keep Lam’s family in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you for your kindness, love, and support during this heartbreaking time.
