On March 25th, 2020 our beautiful daughter Lainey Cole was born sleeping. We are grateful and forever indebted to the caring group at the Royal Alexandra hospital who donated the CuddleCot that allowed us to spend two days with Lainey.
When a baby passes in pregnancy or shortly after birth, the time parents are able to spend with their little one is so very precious and important. Often this time is cut short due to the natural deterioration of the baby’s fragile body and changes in appearance. A CuddleCot is a refrigerated bassinet that slows down these changes and allows parents the gift of time; in order to grieve, bond and say good-bye in the privacy of their hospital room. Without a special cooling device parents would only have a few hours with their babies.
This is why we started this Go-Fund-Me, our goal is to raise enough money to purchase a CuddleCot to donate to a local hospital. In addition, any excess funds will go towards items hospitals use in these situations for grieving families; such as teddy bears, print resources, memory boxes, and blankets. We know first hand that items such as these are some of the only pieces we have that belong to Lainey and we will treasure them forever.
We are inspired and want nothing more than to help as many other parents spend as long as possible with their babies and have keepsakes to treasure. We think donating and helping others while honouring Lainey is the best way to help us as we move through our grief and try to heal. We appreciate you reading through this and any donations you can contribute is beyond generous. If you cannot contribute financially, just keeping Lainey and others in similar situations in your memory is all we ask.
With love and gratitude,
Bret and Jessica Cole
