In Memory of Kyunghee Kim & Supporting the Family

It is with tremendous sadness and shock that we announce the very sudden and unexpected passing of Kyunghee Kim, a loving wife and mother to her four children.

On Saturday September 2, she experienced a hemorrhagic stroke and was found unresponsive next to her husband at home. She was immediately rushed to the local hospital. After an initial assessment and treatment for cerebral aneurysm, it became necessary to air transport her to a larger hospital via helicopter that can better treat her condition. In doing so, precious time had passed, and a second rupture took place on the way, leaving her brain unresponsive upon arrival. We prayed and prayed for a miracle for the possibility of surgery. Sadly, after brain imaging on 9/5/2023 showed no sign of blood flow to the brain, mechanical ventilation was withdrawn. She leaves her husband Donghyun Cho, daughters Christina (24), Hyeri (22), and Esther (19), and son Daniel (11).

Kyunghee Kim was a loving wife, mother, selfless leader of a local Korean-American church, and a dear friend. Kyunghee immigrated from South Korea with her family with the mission of spreading God’s words to the Korean American population in the Midwest United States. She had a medical history of hypertension that was not well-controlled with her medications and exacerbating headaches. She did not seek further healthcare for multiple factors, including having no health insurance in the U.S., low income, and a language barrier. Instead, she did her personal best to do everything she could: praying, losing weight, staying active, and eating healthy.

Kyunghee was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, and treated everyone she met with overflowing love, kindness, the warmest smile, and amazing Korean food. She showed her love by praying for every individual she knew, spending all her hours for her church and family members, and delivering home-cooked meals to anyone who fell ill or had birthdays. She is loved, deeply missed, and cherished in our hearts for eternity.

This GoFundMe campaign has been created for Kyunghee’s family in hopes of relieving the unforeseeable financial obstacles ahead associated with medical bills, funeral, end-of-life expenses, and eventually bringing Kyunghee back to her home in South Korea where she may permanently rest. Any additional funds will directly support Kyunghee’s husband and four children as they try to find the strength to return to school, work and resume chasing their life goals before they may reunite with their mom and wife in the future.
