My Heart Is Shattered
I still can’t believe I’m writing this.
Early this Sunday morning, Kylee—my best friend’s daughter, and truly, my own niece in every way that matters—was killed in a tragic car accident in Hawaii.
At 3:55 a.m. on the morning of July 20, 2025, our world was shattered.
Kylee, a vibrant, loving 25-year-old mother of two, lost her life in a devastating car accident in Hawaii. Just hours earlier, she had been celebrating her birthday surrounded by friends—full of life, laughter, and hope for the future. She was on her way home to her two young sons, Liko (3) and Mateo (5), her mother Jenny, and her little sister Kalea. She never made it back.
Kylee had recently moved to Hawaii from California this past January, seeking a safer, more peaceful life for her children after surviving the California unexpected fires and custody battle with her ex which she was recently awarded full custody just a few months ago. She was in her second year of college, and was recently hired for a new position. She was working hard toward her bachelor’s degree while raising her boys. Her entire life was devoted to building a better future for her children.
Just four days before the accident, Jenny—Kylee’s mom and my best friend—left her job, packed up Kalea her youngest daughter, and relocated back to Hawaii to help Kylee raise the boys so Kylee could focus on school. Now Jenny is facing the unimaginable: the sudden death of her oldest daughter, and the urgent responsibility of stepping in to care for her two grandsons through heartbreak, uncertainty, and legal limbo.
Jenny is ready to fight with everything she has to keep the boys safe, loved, and supported—just as Kylee would have wanted.
This Gofundme is being created to help Jenny and the boys through this heartbreaking time and to protect their future. Funds will go directly toward:
- Funeral and memorial expenses for Kylee
- Daily essentials for Mateo and Liko
- Food, clothing, schooling, and therapy
- Establishing a trust for Mateo and Liko to ensure that every dollar donated is used exclusively for their needs
Jenny will be working with legal professionals to set up a secure trust so that all money is protected and goes toward the boys’ long-term care and well-being.
Kylee loved her sons more than anything in the world. She gave everything she had for them, and her dream was to give them a life filled with opportunity, security, and love. Now it’s up to those of us who loved her to carry that dream forward.
Please consider donating, sharing, sending a prayer or simply holding this family in your heart. Your support means more than words can say.
