Our family appreciates EVERY donation that can be made to help support my Uncle Tom during this difficult time. If you are unable to donate, we ask that you please share this GoFundMe page. Thank you so much in advance for your help! My Uncle Tom and our family are incredibly grateful for your help and for your prayers.
Born Carlyn Renee Sessions (Korkie) on November 9, 1957 in California. Korkie has 2 brothers and 4 sisters. As a youth, Korkie and her family moved quite a bit but they spent a majority of her youth in her mother's hometown of Burlington, Kansas.
She was married to, and had 2 daughters, April Griffin and Carrie Graham, with Rex King (1976-1983). She also had 4 grandchildren. In 1983, Korkie met Tom Pyles and they were happily married for over 40 years.
Korkie was an incredible artist who loved acrylic painting, and she also made jewelry and fimo clay figures. Korkie also loved gardening, especially gardening flowers. Some of her favorite flowers were Iris, Daylilies, Peonies, and Roses. Korkie was also a very good writer of poetry. She loved working in the yard and would often take on physical challenges normally reserved for men.
Korkie and Tom made a total of 9 interstate moves, which provided her plenty of opportunities to set up her own gardens. Moving frequently as an adult allowed for Korkie to set beautiful gardens in California, Minnesota, and several in both Colorado and Kansas. Korkie also loved animals. She spent time raising minature horses, goats, ducks, geese, chickens, dogs, and cats. Any wayward, lost, wet, or cold animal she came across was met with love and compassion from Korkie.
Throughout her life, Korkie had several different jobs. She spent time working in restaurant kitchens, as well as apartment complex maintenance. She also spent time working in daycares because she LOVED working with babies and toddlers.
Though she moved back to the state of Kansas multiple times, she always loved living in Colorado because she loved the mountains. She felt that she was an old soul and any person who crossed her path was met with great compassion and love.
Korkie was a Pyles for over 40 years and was loved by every Pyehog and their children. (Pyehog: One of the nicknames for her beloved brother-in-law, Jay. All of his children then became Pyehogs).
Korkie was at peace and unafraid at the time of her passing. She knew she was graduating from this density and believed in Eternal Life. She was indeed a saint for putting up with Tom for more than 40 years.
