In Memory of Kathy Chavez

Donation protected
It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of a beautiful soul, my sister in law ,Kathy Chavez. She passed away on February 8, 2023 due to an unfortunate, horrible accident caused by a drunk driver speeding at 100mph. Kathy was on her way to work at the Castaic post office early morning and was driving down Victory Blvd when this vehicle struck her at the intersection of Balboa and Victory killing her pretty instantly.

Kathy was a single mother of 4 children whom she pretty much raised on her own. She was a strong woman that took on many capes and ALWAYS put her children first. She was truly a ray of sunshine, never complained and always had a smile on her face. Her heart was pure love and left behind many people who truly cared for and loved her.

All donations will go to the family and most importantly to her children. She has an 11 yr old son who has autism and will need a lot of support to be able to understand he has lost his mother, the person who took care of him as no other person would. He was her world and although these donations cant bring her back, they will help ease some of the burdens the family will have with therapist costs and basic living costs to care for him. She also has a 19 yr daughter who is in college working on becoming a P.A. Her mother supported her so much and was helping her get through college and now she has completely lost that support, therefore this will also help to ease some of that. Her daughter Jasmine was her rock and was currently residing with her in Bakersfield. Jasmine a college student only working part-time no longer has her mother and will need to make a major transition/move to be closer to her siblings and will need as much support as possible. She will most likely have to take on the role of a mother (emotionally, financially, mentally) to her 11 yr old brother and care for a majority of his needs. Her oldest son blessed her with a grandchild who is about to be 2 yrs old and will now have to take on that patriarch role for the family and will be taking time off from work to make sure his sisters and brother are taken care of all while still having to try and support his own family.

Once again, although these donations cannot bring their mother back, it will somewhat ease some of the burdens they will encounter as she was the only parent they had. Anything will be greatly appreciated by the Chavez/Figueroa Family. God Bless everyone!
