In Loving Memory of Justin Zerfass
On August 12th, our jiu-jitsu family lost someone truly special. Justin Zerfass was more than a student — he was a teammate, a friend, and a kind soul who brought quiet strength and warmth to everyone around him.
Justin faced a long and difficult battle with mental health challenges, and while his journey ended far too soon, his impact will never be forgotten. His dedication, humility, and willingness to help others reflected the very best of what our sport and community stand for.
In honor of Justin’s life and spirit, his family has asked that we create something meaningful — a scholarship fund to provide jiu-jitsu training for children who could not otherwise afford it. This scholarship will help ensure that kids have access to the same supportive, empowering environment that Justin valued so much.
Your donation will directly support these young athletes in their training, growth, and participation in the jiu-jitsu community — carrying forward Justin’s legacy of kindness, perseverance, and generosity.
Our goal is to provide free jiu-jitsu for up to 5 kids in his honor.
Even if you cannot give financially, we hope you’ll share this page and join us in remembering Justin for the joy and encouragement he brought into our lives.
Rest easy, Justin. Your mat space will always be here.
Love,
Coach Phil
