While working for Lawrence Construction, I got to know and work with Gerald Lucero. My relationship with him can best be described as a second father. During this time I got to meet his wife Juanita. She is an amazing woman who always kept Gerald in line, and who Gerald loved with all of his heart. She was an awesome Mom and Wife, and always had time for others. About two weeks ago, Juanita became seriously ill and was taken into the hospital. The doctors told the family that she had cirrhosis of the liver, and would probably live for 2.5 – 3 years without a transplant. Upon the families search for a second opinion, they were told that it was the beginning stages of cirrhosis, but that it could still be reversed. It seemed like this was the first time that the news seemed hopeful. Unfortunately, Juanita’s health took a turn for the worse before leaving the hospital and due to complications; she left us to be with the lord.
I realize that some of you may have never had the pleasure of meeting this amazing lady, but if you know Gerald, she possessed very similar traits - kind, patient, always thinking of others, sincere, giving, hardworking, and reliable.
All of the proceeds from these donations will go towards helping the family with the funeral costs, and any additional expenses that the family might incur. My heart breaks for him and his family. Anything that you can spare is greatly appreciated.
