Remembering Joshua and Rod Jung Jr. They were taken from us too soon in a fatal car crash with a DUI driver (who ran through a red light) on February 25th, 2023 in Cypress, CA. Joshua was exactly two months from turning 13 and his father was 51. Joshua and Rod (a big kid at heart) are called "My Boys" by Joshua's mom. Joshua's mom and both her and Rod's families are grieving these most unfathomable losses. Thank you for our heartfelt gratitude for the love, compassion and support you have shown my cousin's families during this most unimaginable and difficult time.
This link is a video of Rod trying to show Joshua he could keep up with Joshua's dance moves and failing miserably; both of them laughing together: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PA9E3taxo7s
Joshua was an amazing and bright young boy, who was just at the beginning of developing into a young teen/man. Joshua was already going through his voice change; he also sprouted up 3-4 inches in height and his feet already grew to 11.5 men's size this past year. His favorite pastime was meeting and playing video games online with his best friend, Max and other online gamers across the U.S. including his dad, Rod. In addition, Joshua very much loved to spend special time with his mom - they studied together daily and celebrated every accomplishment. In addition, Joshua loved outwitting his mom in board games, implementing his strategies to crush her in a game of chess, and watching movies at home together. Whenever he took breaks from studying, Joshua enjoyed with his dad: playing catch, shooting hoops on the driveway, and driving go-karts. Joshua was known for his talent to dance, do memes and voice imitations on the spot. Joshua graduated from Margaret Landell Elementary School and was currently a student at Lexington Junior High School.
Rod had a passion for making films and videos. Following high school, he served a short tour with the U.S. Air Force. Upon return, he attended and graduated from CSU Dominguez Hills and started his career at Sony Pictures Entertainment. In 2014, he was laid off after Sony announced their target to cost cut by reducing its labor force in several departments. Rod transitioned to hone his IT skills and worked for various companies such as Thales Group remaining mostly with the entertainment industry culminating at ATT/Directv. Five weeks before this tragedy, Rod was laid off from ATT/Directv and was interviewing with several different social media and entertainment companies. Rod was known for his humor and for his love to be not only Dad to Joshua but his best buddy and partner, thus why Joshua's mom refers to them as "her boys." This was mainly because of Rod’s capacity to retain his child-like delight in many things, especially when it came to being a playmate to his son, Joshua, since he was an only child. Rod was born in Chicago and grew up in Fountain Valley. He is an alumnus of La Quinta High School in Westminster. Rod also enjoyed hobbies such as video gaming, acoustic and bass guitar, and updating his friends on social media.
Both Joshua and Rod will be missed by many friends and family.
