My name is Jennifer, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart following the sudden and heartbreaking passing of our friend, Jon Schoepf. Jon left this world far too soon. He was a kind and giving soul with so much more life ahead of him. As the family tries to come to terms with his tragic loss, we're asking for support to help cover funeral expenses and to give Jon the peaceful farewell he deserves. Any contribution, no matter how small, would mean the world to his wife Julie and the Schoepf family during this difficult time.
On Saturday, August 9, 2025, Jon experienced a cardiac arrest, with his main artery blocked 100% with no warning signs. He died for 14 minutes before the paramedics necessitated him. They were able to do surgery to insert a stint in the heart and was able to rebound. His heart and kidneys took a positive turn, and although he was on assistance to keep him alive, he was fighting hard, and the family and amazing team at St. Jude were very hopeful. On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, it was determined that Jon had experienced an anoxic brain injury due to the 14 minutes without oxygen following the cardiac arrest. He also had swelling on the brain. Although the doctors worked hard to reduce the swelling, the damage was too much. At this time, the family made the decision to donate several of his organs. This was difficult, but the 100% exact thing that Jon would have done - help others. On Wednesday, August 13, Jon and the family took an "Honor Walk" down the halls of the hospitals where doctors and nurses stood present to honor Jon and his family for his beautiful donation. Julie and the family were with him in his last moments, praying and sharing words of love and encouragement. Jon passed peacefully on Wednesday evening, being able to donate organs to several people.
Jon was a husband, father of 4, grandfather of 7, and brother, uncle to many, and best friend to his favorite girl Carly. He deeply loved his family and his mini farm full of chickens! At 62 years old, Jon and Julie lived in Fullerton, California. A dedicated cyclist, he was spent the last few years recovering from a terrible accident as well as a stroke. He recently told Julie that he was starting to really feel good and that 2025 was going to be their year. They were looking forward to planning a trip to their favorite place, Hawaii.
His passion for helping others extended beyond his own family his whole life. We are asking the community for help to support his wife Julie with funds to help with funeral arrangements and medical expenses. Any amount will be a blessing to help their family move forward. Please pray for Julie and their family during this difficult time; thank you for your contribution.
Life is precious; please take the time to hug your love ones and tell them how much you care about them.
