In Memory of Johnalynn Ilae

Donation protected
As many friends and family members know, Johnalynn Ilae was taken from us way before her time. She was a huge light in our lives and will be sorely missed. If you would like to honor Johnalynn, instead of flowers or gifts, the family requests that you please contribute to her memorial fund.

Funds will go towards the cost of Johnalynn’s memorial services with any remaining proceeds donated to non-profits close to Johnalynn’s heart.

More below from her best friend (Jon Wells):

Johnalynn Kuuipomakalani Ilae was the color yellow – brilliant and bright.

She was an overachiever and excelled at everything. I’ve always been in awe of how she picked things up so fast and could so easily make me look bad. She did this in high school for all of our classes, at work at the bank, in the ocean bodyboarding, at the pool table, board games, you name it. She was a force of nature.

She brought people together using the same energy that drove her to learn and achieve. She has connected so many of us through her infectious laughter and silly antics. She was witty, hilarious, snarky, and someone you always wanted to be around. Johna’s jokes left 3rd degree burns and there’s nothing I wouldn’t give for another Johna zinger.

Singing was her gift. I loved listening to her beautiful voice, whether that was in a karaoke bar, on the beach, or just hanging out at home. Hearing the songs that she loved to sing is really hard right now but I hope that we can all eventually find joy remembering her voice.

She loved to travel and experience the world. New York City was a favorite destination we often visited and always talked about moving to. We saw Europe together and had a ball. I know she’s visited many of her friends and family across the country and we all know the light she brought with her and the joy that she left in our hearts.

She was fierce but also had a soft heart, willing to go above and beyond for her friends and family. She was the type of friend that could call you on your nonsense but somehow still comfort you. Someone to lean on when times were tough and party with when times were good. She was someone whom I will truly miss and my life will never be the same.

She was a daughter, a sister, an aunty, and a friend to so many. She changed all of our lives for the better and now we must keep her alive in hearts and our memories. Pray for her and her family. To everyone in the words of Johna: “miss you, love you, byeeeeee”.
