In Memory of John Rowland

On Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2020, John Rowland lost an unexpected battle for his life. He was only 41. As he had chronicled on Facebook, he had knee surgery on August 24th and came through with flying colors. He was healing so well and making great progress. Unfortunately, behind the scenes he was developing a series of blood clots in his leg. He and his incredible medical team fought so hard to overcome what transpired next but despite their skill and all the prayers we could muster, his brain could not recover. He passed peacefully surrounded by his wife (Noel), his mom (Dottie), and their three wonderful kids (Dillon-21, Talia-19, and Caleb-16).
John was an amazing and kind person. The true definition of selflessness and generosity. Always willing to lend a hand or offer advice. With the help of a brilliant mind, he accomplished so much in his short life. He was the sole provider for their family allowing Noel to focus on raising their babies. He was a devoted husband and father, a loving son and brother, a generous family member and loyal friend.
John was an inspiration, mentor, and guide to countless youth through his work as a BSA Scoutmaster of Troop 53. He impacted the lives of many young men, as well as their families, and was very proud to be part of that community. As a long-time employee of ADT, he also greatly enriched the lives of all who knew him as a friend, mentor, and colleague. He had his actual family and he had a wider universe of chosen family. His trademark sense of humor was a blessing to all who encountered him.
He changed the course of many lives simply by being John. Nothing could have prepared his family for this devastating loss both emotionally and financially.
It is said that "the star that burns twice as bright burns half as long". John burned so brightly in his short time with us. There are simply no words for this immeasurable loss. With John being the sole provider, his family is faced with so many unknowns now. We've set a goal that would allow Noel and the kids to stay in the home that she and John worked so hard to create. Bottom line, we want to pay off their mortgage. If John ever touched your life, we hope you'll consider donating to support his wonderful family in their greatest time of need. As always, please keep their family in your prayers as they attempt to move forward.
Thank you so much.
